Cast a birth chart

Sidereal positions from Swiss Ephemeris data files, historical timezones from the IANA database, and all sixteen divisional charts. The place lookup covers 786,032 places (557,993 in India, villages included) and runs entirely locally, so no birth details reach a geocoding service. Coordinates can be typed directly in decimal or degrees-minutes-seconds when you know them exactly; a typed coordinate always overrides the selected place.

Longitude decimal or DMS; east positive Timezone An IANA zone such as Asia/Kolkata, which carries the historical offsets. For a birth before standard time reached that place, type LMT to use local mean solar time from the longitude.

Calculation settings

Ayanamsa House system Lunar node Chart style Give Rahu and Ketu 5/7/9 aspects. BPHS gives the nodes no drishti; several schools give them Jupiter-like aspects. Off by default. Topocentric positions. Corrects for the observer's place on the Earth's surface, moving the Moon by up to ~1° — enough to change its nakshatra. Indian software quotes geocentric, so this is off by default.
